Internet Marketing Advice for Beginners Only

This page is devoted to pure beginners. If you want to make money online but don’t know the difference between SEO and FTP, continue reading!

First Things First!
The Internet can be a GREAT career for you, however, you will not make money with your online business tomorrow, next week, or next month (unless you clean your closets out via eBay). You do not have the knowledge or experience required in order to make money yet with Internet marketing. Maybe you had your hopes up after signing up with one of the “data entry” or “type at home” scam sites. Unfortunately there is no "quick" money available online.

Do a search on Google for "type at home scams" or "data entry scams". Read for yourself about one of the biggest scams on the Internet today.

There is no way you can pay a small “fee” for the “privilege” of copying and pasting “ads” for companies and make lots of money doing so. If you signed up for one of those scams, get your money back!

The biggest mistake you, as a beginner, can make is wasting your time trying to make money from day one. Use your time more productively than rolling around the Internet like a lose cannon with absolutely no idea what to do.

The Easiest Way to Make Money Online

You won’t want to hear what I have to say about this. The reason you will hate hearing the truth here is that you probably still have the misconception that there is easy and fast money to be made online.

What is the easiest way to make money online? Having your own website is the easiest way. Whether you are selling affiliate products or your own products, doing so via your own sites is the easiest way to enjoy online success.

Having your own website does not mean finding a host or online service which will help you create a site with online templates! If you are committed to success with Internet marketing, you simply have to bite the bullet and learn how to create your own websites. There are several good web editors; I use Dreamweaver to create my sites.

However, a robust web editor will cost several hundreds of dollars. Real WebSite Pro includes a free web editor to get started with and complete video tutorials. Most people can learn to build a simple site with it in a weekend!

At the same time you are learning web design, you must also educate yourself on other important marketing skills about Search Engine Optimization (SEO). Once you learn web design and SEO, the sky is truly the limit! Yes, there are a few more skills you must build. Copy writing, list building, and image design/manipulation are a few.

The Hardest Way to Make Money Online

You are sure not going to like hearing this either. PayPerClick (like AdWords) is the hardest skill to learn. Do not be deceived by how easy it is to setup an AdWords’ campaign! Google has made their money machine VERY easy to use. Trust me, setting up the campaign and making money with the campaign are two VERY different things!

If you have a PayPerClick campaign running right now, stop it! You might make a lucky sale now and then, but you will not make a profit overall. I know these words sound severe. However, you simply will not make money with PPC until you have studied it and practiced for a LONG time! Unfortunately, practicing with AdWords requires cash…and lots of it!

PayPerClick is NOT a place for beginners! Save your money, save your time, and learn web design. Along the way keep studying and practicing with AdWords a little at a time, but don't focus entirely on it as your only method.

The Hardest Way to Make Money Online
(Part 2)

Whether you sell affiliate products or your own products, there are some areas MUCH more difficult than others to succeed in. Because of the extreme competition, Internet marketing products are VERY difficult to have success with. Think about it! Not only is there a LOT of competition, the competition includes all of the best and smartest Internet marketers in the world! Leave selling Internet marketing related products to those more experienced for now!

Other difficult areas are diet products, dating help, mortgage and home loans, electronics, gaming, gambling, and music/movies.

What you, as a beginner, must do is learn to succeed in a very small niche area before you attempt these mega areas. There is no way your beginner level skills can compete in these areas. Find a quiet niche market like “learning to speak Yiddish” or “pit cooking”. The Internet is a HUGE place. You will be amazed how much demand there is even for very niche areas. Our retail site does a booming business selling such products as Syn-flex, Flexicose, Vitaplen, and Triple Greens. Have you ever heard of those products? I rest my case. Find a NICHE area to promote if you expect to be successful!

“I don’t know what to promote online.”

I hear this ALL the time! In fact, I used to say it to. If you find yourself in this position, here’s how to fix it.

Neither myself or anyone else can help you decide what niche you should follow. I don't know you. I don't know your background, what you like, or what you don't. For example, I think "engine rebuilding" might be a great niche to be in. However, I know nothing about it; why would I pursue that niche? YOU might be great at it however! See what I mean?

Choosing a niche is a personal choice and requires more thought than simply, "how can I make money". The area you choose MUST be something YOU know about and/or want to learn more about. Sites by themselves don't make money; it is the energy and value that the owner adds to the site which does. Beginners waste too much time trying "to make money" instead of focusing on the only route which will. That route is about creating a site which has value and gives people a real reason to be there!

You see, the problem you face isn’t deciding what to sell. You are not near ready to even be asking that question. The answer to it is right around you in your current life or in your head already. You simply need to learn how Internet marketing works first. Every single Internet marketer I know is selling a service, a product, or information in an area they already knew something about or was interested in…BEFORE they even considered Internet marketing.

Therefore, the answer to that question has already been solved. You just need the correct tools and knowledge in place to ask the question. Almost every beginner asks this question; they can’t think of one thing to do online. However, a new problem arises once they understand the process of Internet marketing. With some basic knowledge of how it all works, the beginner is then flooded with ideas of ways to make money online. Oh, I remember those days!

My wife must have been going crazy listening to all my ideas. Once I really grasped the concepts, a whole world of opportunity opened up to me. However, for success to come at that point focus is required; most of those great ideas have to go on the back burner. Otherwise, the beginner is spread so thin that nothing will work.

If you REALLY want to be an Internet marketer, don’t put the cart before the horse; learn the basic principles first before beating your head against the wall trying to think of something to sell.

How Long Will It Take?

I don’t know you. I don’t know how much time or motivation you have. At best, if everything went perfect, if you are a true work-a-holic, if you have an understanding spouse, if you already have solid computer skills, if you get lucky and your first choice for a niche area actually works (it probably won’t…more than likely it will be your fourth or fifth niche area you try before seeing some success…that’s just how Internet marketing works), then you might see some success in a few months. This is the best case scenario for how fast your Internet business will grow.

If you are average, chances are it will require you to persevere for close to a year before really seeing success. To keep that fact in perspective, many of us spent four years working on a college career while not getting paid for it while getting it! If you practice Relentless Focused Action, you will be very successful in far less than four years!

Where to Go From Here

You must learn web design. I can’t come to your house to teach you this, so you must figure out a way to learn it. The good news is that it is not rocket science!

For a month or so (while you are learning web design), you need to spend every possible minute reading and studying all you can about Internet marketing (put an emphasis on SEO). You will never stop this learning process, but you need to hit it very hard early on. You must build a solid foundation of basic knowledge and also learn the “language” of Internet marketing. The only way to do this is to study! You must spend a lot of time reading in the Warrior Forum and Webmaster World. Of course start with all the free info right here on this site and Weber Forum.

A Word about Buying Products to Help You Succeed

Do not buy ANYTHING at first! There are plenty of great info products which will help you. I buy a lot of them myself. However, as a beginner, you simply do not know what you don’t know. Even buying helpful information products takes some basic understanding of the whole concept of Internet marketing. Remember, MANY beginners buy into scams; do not be one of them!

Are there products which can help make an Internet marketer a LOT of money? Absolutely! Imagine though if someone gave you an airplane. It was yours! All you had to do was fly it! As a beginner, many Internet marketing products will be as worthless to you as the airplane parked in your driveway. In the right hands both an airplane and many Internet marketing products can be very useful, but in beginners’ hands they are all but worthless. As a beginner, you cannot “buy” your way to success. Many products can enhance your success IF you hold up your end of the bargain by leaning and studying on your own. There are no free lunches.

Final Words

Anyone can succeed with Internet marketing. Successful Internet marketers are not just lucky or smarter than you. They are successful because they learned concepts and built skills, they practiced Relentless Focused Action, and they kept leaning from their failures.
