Super Clean Code With CSS

Posted on October 11th, 2008 in Build Your Website by Steve

I am working on a new Adsense site. One of my customers, Rich Currie, designed the CSS template for me. It is a simple design which I can easily use for multiple sites. Since it is CSS driven and has extremely clean code, there are no worries about duplicate code issues. Take a look at the site, now under construction: http://www.metalpoetry.com

Be sure to “view source” on one of the pages to check out the super clean code!

A Real Handicap for Beginning Online Marketers

Posted on June 7th, 2008 in Build Your Website by Steve

How many successful Internet marketers have one, and only one site? How many successful Internet marketers never have the need to create extra landing pages, modify thank you pages, create squeeze pages for list building, etc.?

None that I know!

The more success a marketer has, the bigger their web of online presence becomes.

I think the amount of domains, sites, squeeze pages, sales pages and such I have would shock most of you. Of course I started out just like everyone else…small and not knowing what I was doing. I didn’t wake up one day to all this; it was and is a constant work in progress.

My point here is this:

(I am not picking on anyone here for sure…this is simply a trap many beginners land in…just one of many.)

Once again this week I find myself trying to help several people locked into those “site build it” type wizards. They don’t know how to create sites on their own so they pay far too much money each month to have one site. For what most of those places charge for just one domain, I can host nearly all my domains.

But there is worse news than just the money aspect. Using those “wizards” keeps a person helpless with respect to growing their business. There is simply no way to grow an online business without knowing how to create simple html pages and sites…period.

A Cool Tool

I just added a tool to the Members Page I found very useful. It is a link checker which will check your entire site for broken links. I ran WeberInternetMarketing.com through it and found 3 links I had made mistakes with which were dead.

I don’t normally post things publicly which are on the member’s page. However, I thought I would give an example here of just what one can expect when they become a customer of mine (and thus have access to my member’s site). There are many more tools on the member site just as useful.

Here is the link to the tool. I highly suggest every site owner use it.

Build a Real WebSite

real-web-box-150.jpg“Beginning Internet Marketers” is the niche I target. Those people who have yet to earn $500 to $1000 per month consistently online are who my focus is on.

Without a doubt, the biggest hurdle most beginners face is learning how to create simple websites. I see many who try to skip this step by using free sites, some type of wizard creation tool, or by using templates; none of these are real solutions to the problem.

Every successful Internet marketer is capable of creating simple websites and landing pages.

After all, this is INTERNET marketing! Success requires very basic web design skills!

It bothered me that I did not have a good answer for beginners facing this hurdle. Therefore, I created Real WebSite Pro. It includes a graphical web editor and complete video tutorials on using it to create a working website.

However, what many beginners do not understand is that just creating a site is not enough. What good is creating a site if no one ever comes to visit?

Real WebSite Pro also includes my products Back Porch Income and The Online Basics. These two packages teach the beginner how to drive traffic to their sites and convert that traffic to profits.

Real WebSite Pro’s lessons include:

  • How to register a good domain name
  • What type of hosting is required and how to set it up
  • Connecting the domain with the hosting account
  • Learning basic web design
  • Creating an attractive and working site from scratch
  • How to rank on Google’s and Yahoo’s first page
  • Free access to weekly live teleconferences with me
(I believe in support after the sale!)
  • Plus Much More!

I’m happy I can finally offer beginners a real solution to the problem they face in creating a real website!

The Biggest Hurdle

Posted on September 30th, 2007 in Build Your Website by Steve

Most beginners don’t get past the step of learning simple web design skills. Actually, this is not the hardest part of Internet marketing. In fact, it is quite easy compared to the skill and knowledge needed to drive traffic to your site.

Many beginners opt for a “canned” web building tool. Many of these are offered by hosting companies. One only needs to “fill in the blanks” of a template in order to create the page. Although tempting, I see these as only a waste of time and will simply delay the process of building true web building skills.

Using these kinds of “instant sites” do not offer enough control over the site. If your goal is simply to get a site up there, they are fine. However, a site without traffic is worthless. The only way to implement SEO features; you must have complete control of your site’s structure. You won’t have this control with these canned sites.

Additionally, successful Internet marketers use their web design skills a LOT! There are always “thank you” pages, squeeze pages, landing pages and other mini sites to create.

If you are really serious about Internet marketing, you must learn simple web design. If you are not willing to learn this skill, you really should look for something else to try besides Internet marketing.

My Product, Real WebSite Pro teaches the beginner how to create and publish a real website. It also includes videos on buying a domain, setting up hosting, and how to get the page ranking well in Google.

Decide for yourself you are going to do this! If you do, you’ll be well on your way to enjoying the rewards of Internet marketing!
