Lack of Focus = Lack of SuccessToo many times I still see people who are lacking the focus required for success. Their work ethic is not the problem. Many of them are working every spare moment they have at building their online business. However, they are dividing their time in such ways the nothing they do really builds toward success. Here are just two example of what I mean. There are more, so think about your own marketing methods and ask yourself if you too might be committing this type of error. #1 I know people trying to drive traffic to their sites by doing SEO in their content creation, exchanging links, using PPC, using article directories, submitting to the big social book marking sites, participating in forums, and even doing some with video marketing. Come on now! There is not enough time in the day to do any of those well! Pure beginners SHOULD try all the above methods and more even. However, that was only to see what methods fit you the best. Once you believe you have found a good method (maybe two at the most), plow 90% of your traffic building efforts into those areas. Leave the remaining 10% for testing and practicing in the other areas. Some people find a method with YouTube which generates tons of traffic. Others have great success with massive article writing and submissions. My areas are mainly SEO and AdWords. I felt guilty in the past about NOT doing all those other areas. However, I learned that I get much better results by focusing and doing just one or two very well and forgetting pretty much about the rest. #2 Too many people think that if one blog or website is good then having 20 must be great! Nothing could be further from the truth in general. Yes, there are some who have dedicated themselves to creating one rich content niche site a week and they do well. If you can do that, great! However, for the other 99.9% of us, focusing the majority of our work on just a site or two is required in order for those sites to get traction and start producing. Here is a basic principle of Internet marketing you should understand. This applies to any area you might be in: X amount of work focused on one or two projects/methods/sites will result in far greater successes than the same X amount of work spread between many different projects/methods/sites. It really can make the difference between failure and massive success. Think about it! |
