If you have an item you wish to sell on PayDotCom, click on “My Products” and then click “Create a new product”. List your product name and a short, but detailed description of your product.

Subscription and charge period only apply to such things as newsletter subscriptions, etc. For regular items, just skip these fields.

Supply your email address you want the purchase receipts sent to.

Skip the box labeled “Paypal – Only Options” unless you know for sure you need them.

Add the URL of your Sales page. This is the page where you promote your product and customers can make purchases.

The thank-you page is the page a buyer is redirected to after a purchase. You should create a thank-you page which thanks your customers for their purchase, has the download link for their product, has any special instructions the buyer may need to view the downloaded product, and a method to contact you should they have problems.

Check the “Gather shipping information” if you will actually be shipping the product instead of providing a digital download.

You can probably uncheck the “Gather extra personal information” unless you think you will really need it.

Decide if you want to “Approve any affiliate”. Most people will check this option.

Click “Display this item in the Marketplace”. People can find your product in the marketplace and become your affiliate. There must be one sale made before the item will be added to the marketplace. You’ll need to promote your product in the regular ways to generate that first sale

Skip the Advanced users option.

Click Save and continue.

On the next page click percentage or flat amount and insert the amount of commission you wish to provide to affiliates who help you make sales. A 50% commission is probably the most commonly used commission. Click Add

Before you leave this page, be sure to check “Sell using PayPal” and provide your PayPal email address. Click Save and Go to the Next Step

On the step 4 page, skip the “Gather extra personal information” unless you think you will really need it from buyers.

On this page you also have the option to input HTML which will show up at the top and/or bottom of the Pay Page. If you are experienced with HTML, I suggest you add a personal touch to the Pay Page. You could have a picture of the product and highlight the benefits one more time. This may prevent some “shopping cart abandonment” issues. You are not required to use this option.

Click Save and then click “I am done” on the next page.

That’s it! You have created a product. Now you need to generate one sale for the product to be listed in the PayDotCom Marketplace. Some people suggest simply having a friend make a purchase. I guess I am too stubborn for this method. I am a firm believer that every seller needs to work at promoting their own product. Learn what it takes to make a “Real” sale. Even if it takes you a few days or even a few weeks to make a real sale, you will be miles ahead in the marketing game. Roll up your sleeves and get to work marketing your product!

Copy and Paste Your Buy Button Code onto Your Sales Page

Click “My Products” and then “View/Edit My Products”.
Here you may edit the details of your product and get the payment buttons. Click on “Make Payment Button”. Here is the code for the buy button you need to copy and paste on your sales page.

Get Your Promotion Link

Click on “New Campaign” and there you can get “just the link” which you need to promote the item. You may create multiple “campaigns” which generate different links. This way PDC will keep track of which links generated traffic and sales.

You can promote your product with your campaign’s link in much the same way I described how affiliates can promote products on the previous PayDotCom affiliate page.
