Instructions for Getting started with PayDotCom
I have basic information here about getting started with PayDotCom. PayDotCom is one of the leading affiliate marketing networks for digital items. Although PayDotCom allows non-digital items, the majority of its products are digital.
The Process: Find a product in the PayDotCom Marketplace you wish to promote and then sign up with its affiliate program. You will be provided a URL with your unique affiliate ID in it. You then promote the product using that affiliate link. When a buyer clicks on your affiliate link and then (or later) makes a purchase, you get a commission for the sale. Note: There are other variations to affiliate marketing, but most of the affiliate programs found in PayDotCom work this way. Also, if you have your own product to sell, submitting it to an affiliate network like PDC can greatly increase your exposure to the market. View basic instructions for selling on PayDotCom. Most beginners with PDC don’t have their own product to sell. I will briefly describe how to get started promoting others’ products. Click “Sign Up” on the PayDotCom home page and fill the form out. You must include your SS number or Tax ID number. Every affiliate program requests this because they may be sending you money It is required by law they have your tax or SS number. You must already have a PayPal account so you can provide your PayPal email address. Read the vendors and affiliates payment methods and decide which to check. Then check the terms and conditions box, type in the 5 digit screen verification code and click “sign up”. The next screen should say “Welcome Yourname” at the top. You are now logged into your new account. The basic account is free. The premier account allows you to sell more than one product. With either account you can promote as many products as you wish. Join an Affiliate Program and Start Promoting Click on “Promote Products” and then “View Marketplace”. If you know of a product you wish to promote, do a search for it. If you don’t have one in mind, select a category you may know something about and start there. You will have more success if you work with products in areas you have some knowledge about. Visit the sales page of a product to see if it is one you are interested in. If you wish to promote the product, click “Promote”. The next screen will show your unique URL which you will use to promote the product. You may create multiple, unique links for the product by clicking “Create New Campaign”. The purpose of creating multiple campaigns is for you to track where your sales come from. If you simply use the one link on your web page, in AdWords, etc., you won’t know where each sale came from. It is important to track where your efforts are paying off, so be sure and create multiple campaigns for each and every method you use to promote. You should even have different campaigns for each Ad Group within your AdWords’ campaigns. In order to view how your campaigns are working for you click “Promote Products” and then “As An Affiliate”. There you will see the products you are promoting. Click “Create/View Campaigns” to see the numbers of clicks and sales your campaign has produced.

Three Main Ways to Promote Products1. With a Website The best way to promote is with a website which already has natural traffic (without having to use Pay Per Click advertising like AdWords). If you already have a website which has good traffic, there is a good chance you will be able to start successfully promoting some products right away! If you don’t have a website and if you are serious about Internet Marketing, I highly suggest you start learning how to create and market your own simple site. Yes, it is possible to make money with affiliate marketing without a website.One method is to use PayPerClick advertising. If you are brand new to Internet marketing, learning how to use PPC successfully will be costly. AdWords is not a “free lunch”. You will have to invest time and money while learning what works and what doesn’t. If you invest time into building and promoting your own site, you will acquire many skills and much knowledge along the way which will make using PPC much easier in the future. If you are new to Internet marketing, becoming profitable with PPC may be a long way down the road for you.
Some advice about marketing your own website: Get your own domain with your own host. Don’t start out on the wrong foot by using free hosting sites. Marketing a site about Internet Marketing, Home Business, etc. to the search engines will be extremely difficult because of the competition. I suggest picking some other niche area to start with. For example, it will be much easier to get a site listed on Google’s first page of search results for “Trout Fly Fishing” then for “Make Money at Home”. By the way, the number 10 product in PDC’s Sports category is an eBook about trout fly fishing! I looked at the searches per month vs. the competition in Google for “Trout Fly Fishing”. It would be very easy (relatively speaking) to rank well in Google for that keyword. In my book The Secrets to My Internet Success, I go into great detail about choosing the right product to promote and getting its pages listed on Google’s first page. 2. Using Pay Per Click Using Pay Per Click advertising, like AdWords, will take time and money to learn. Unless you are just lucky, you will not be profitable without spending much time learning the proper techniques and spending money for clicks while you learn. Don’t assume you are smart enough to make that luck to happen. Even the most dedicated beginner will not usually be profitable with AdWords for a while. I am not trying to be negative, I am just telling you as I see it. Some tips on using AdWords 3. Promoting With an Email List The third way to promote products is with an email list. I am not going to go into details here, but please follow this advice: If you don’t have your own list which you developed yourself or a friend who you trust developed, forget this option. Paying for a list is a total waste of money. I do suggest you start building your own list. However, this process usually comes after you have your own site going. At that time you can offer a free download for newsletter sign-ups. That is about it on the ways to promote your products. There are plenty of scams out there telling people how easy it is “Make Thousands of Dollars” a week doing “data entry” with programs like PayDotCom. If you are looking for an easy way to start making a lot of money, affiliate marketing is simply not for you.
